Below is a picture of how the moon appears at Beth Hallel which is more North from my house. This was taken around 9:45 p.m. after church.

Friday, August 31
The moon rose at 7:05 p.m. and will not set until 7:23 a.m. Saturday,
September 1. However the full moon began at 9:00 this morning. Below is a
snapshot of the moon from my neighborhood around 7:00 p.m. before
leaving for the Friday night Shabbat Shalom service. The
moon is hidden behind the clouds as it has been cloudy most of the
evening.

Thursday, August 30
I was unable to take a clear picture of the moon tonight due to thick cloud coverage. Overcast skies have been present all day with intermittent
rain because of Hurricane Isaac, so I have drawn a picture to illustrate my view of the moon from TCBY Homewood at 10:00 PM. Tomorrow is the full moon, so the moon almost appears to be 100% illuminated.

Wednesday, August 29
Tonight the moon is around 97% illuminated resembling a full moon. This
picture of the moon was taken at 10:00 pm at Shades Mountain Baptist
Church. I had to walk around the parking lot of the student building to
find a good shot of the moon between the trees. I was unable to photograph the moon from my house this evening due to overcast skies. Also, I would like to note that the moonset time is 5:22 AM, Thursday morning. Yesterday, Tuesday, August 28, moonset time was at 4:19 AM this morning. Moonset time has gradually become later since August 24.

Tuesday, August 28
The picture of the moon was taken about twenty-five feet in front of my house at 9:00 PM, seven hours before moonset. The moon probably will not be in I have noticed a pattern with the moonset time as it gets closer to a full moon. Moonset time is extending as it gets closer to the full moon; each night the moon is appearing in the sky longer and longer. Tonight the mean appears to be almost completely visible at 93% visibility. Hurricane Isaac made landfall today in the gulf so I am curious to see how this effects moon visibility for the rest of the week.

Monday, August 27
This picture of the moon was taken in front of my house around 9:00 PM, six hours before moonset time. In order to find the moon I had to walk twenty-five feet in front of my house to the mailbox. The moon is around 86% visible with the crescent to the right. Additionally, the moon appears large at 9:00PM despite moonset being at 3:15 AM because the new moon is four days away.

Sunday, August 26
This photograph of the moon was taken around 8:30 PM, about six hours before moonset time, in the front of my house. In order to take the photograph I had to stand facing my house about fifteen feet out . The moon was
much easier to locate tonight than it was last night due to clear skies all day long. Currently, the
moon is at 66% visibility and takes the shape of a waxing gibbeous, the new moon is not far away.

Saturday August 25
I searched for the moon for almost an hour in and around my neighborhood
and could not find the moon. I am not surprised by this because overcast skies have been present all day. I checked
periodically throughout the evening up until 9:00 p.m. However, I
noticed when I looked outside of my window at midnight, before I went to
bed, I could see a faint outline of the moon. Based on the cycle of the
moon, I would say that tonight’s moon would continue to show growth in
illumination. Additionally, since last night was the first quarter moon
the moon would have become a waxing gibbeous.

Friday, August 24
It was a bit difficult to spot the moon tonight because of
intermittent thunderstorms this evening. The moon was nowhere to be found in the front of my house tonight, so I had to go in the backyard. I was able to find the moon between two tall oak trees. My photograph was taken around 8:45 PM, around three hours and twenty minutes until the moonset time. Fifty-five percent of the moon is visible tonight as tonight is the first quarter moon.

Thursday, August 23
This is a picture of the moon from Brook Highland Plaza. I was unable to see the moon from my neighborhood, so I took a picture while I was running errands. The picture was taken around 6:30 PM, nearly five and a half hours until moonset for the evening which is why the moon appears higher in the sky. Tonight the moon is 43% visible with the crescent of the moon to the right.

Wednesday, August 22
Tonight’s picture of the moon was taken around 8:30 p.m. Again tonight I had to walk down my street about 25 feet to get a visual of the moon. Since the picture was taken about two hours before moonset the moon was in the horizon. I know it's hard to tell in the picture, taken with my iPhone, but the moon is a crescent to the right with about 32% visibility.

Tuesday, August 21
This is a view of the moon from my neighborhood. Due to trees in my front yard I walked down my street roughly twenty-five feet to see the moon. The picture was taken around 8:35 PM, an hour and twenty minutes before moon set time, which is probably why I had to walk down my neighborhood to find the moon.At this time the moon is 21.1% visible and resembles a waxing crescent. Although it may be hard to tell by the photograph the crescent is to the right side of the moon. Today, marks the fourth day since the new moon on August 17th.
